Kids love to make and drink shakes, and in some cases they will drink what they will not eat. My kids are more apt to drink this shake than to eat the sliced cantaloupe.
We love shakes so much that I keep my blender out on the kitchen table year round, but especially in the summer shakes are popular in my house!
This shake is very refreshing. The adults can throw some Spiced Rum or Malibu into it to make a cocktail.
Ingredients:
Most of a cantaloupe cut into cubes (reserve a quarter of it for eating)
Juice of a lime and half an orange (if all you have is a lemon, you can use juice of one lemon)
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup cold water
2 cups ice
Mix all of the ingredients above in a blender, first 20 seconds on ice crush (just listen for when the cubes have been thoroughly crushed) then blend on puree for 10 seconds. Serve immediately.
Tip: Must serve right after it is blended, or it will separate.
